Reuse, citation and rights

What you can do with our projections — and what requires our consent. In short: quote us freely, share our images, do not rebuild our product with our outputs.

What you can do freely

We want these numbers to circulate. The following uses require no authorization, and we encourage them:

Quote our projections in an article, a post, a broadcast or a publication, naming us — "Route 127" — and, where the format allows it, with a link to the site.
Share the images produced by the simulator, as is. They already carry their source and their reservation: that is how they are made to travel.
Share a scenario link, including on social media and in messaging apps.
Reproduce one of our images in a news article, with visible credit.

Journalists and newsrooms do not need to write to us for these uses. If you would like an interview, a specific data point or a pre-publication check, write to us: we respond.

What requires our written consent

The published projections are the product of editorial work: the choice of polls used, their weighting, and a model that translates them onto Quebec's 16,756 polling divisions. It is this work — not the public data that feeds it — that is protected.

Systematically extracting or copying our projections, by script or otherwise, to reconstitute a database.
Reusing our outputs in a commercial product or a competing service.
Reproducing the entirety of a page or a section of the site, or setting up a mirror copy of it.
Removing, hiding or altering the source credit in an image we produce.
Using ASGO's name or visual identity in a way that would suggest an endorsement or a partnership.
Training an artificial intelligence model with our outputs, or incorporating them into a training dataset, in whole or in part.

Candidate profiles (names, party labels, photos) are collected from official party websites and Wikipedia. The photos remain the property of their respective parties and are displayed by direct link, without being copied onto our servers. The collection is manual and may contain errors or delays; any request for correction or removal may be sent to us via asgo-ia.ca/contact.

One clarification, because we are ourselves an AI company: assistants and agents are welcome to consult and cite the site — that is reading, and the simulator even offers them a door built for that. The line is the same as for humans: read and cite, freely, with the source; bulk extraction or model training, with our written consent.

The data we use does not belong to us

This needs to be said clearly, because it is the counterpart of the above: polling divisions, the results of past elections and electoral boundaries are open data from Élections Québec. We do not own them and do not claim to own them. The same applies to polls, which belong to the firms that conduct them and which we cite.

Contains open data granted under the Chief Electoral Officer's Open Data User Licence, available online at dgeq.org/en. The fact of granting the licence in no way implies that the Chief Electoral Officer approves the use made of the open data. Postal codes derived from Statistics Canada's Open Database of Addresses (Open Government Licence — Canada).

The Enterprise addendum

The Enterprise plan lets an organization pay for subscriber access for people at its email domain. The following completes the terms above for this plan — and nothing else changes.

Who the organization is. The person who subscribes to the plan with their work email acts on behalf of the organization that holds that domain; they become its first admin and may designate others, from the same domain.
What the organization buys. The unlocking of its email domain: anyone who signs in with an address from that domain receives subscriber access, up to the number of seats chosen (the cap). Seats are taken as they go, first come, first served. A person who arrives once the cap is full gets free-tier access — no one is blocked.
What the organization does not receive. The organization obtains no information on the identity or individual activity of the accounts on its domain — only the number of seats taken. Each account is created by the person themselves, under these terms; the rights of access, rectification and erasure remain individual. The one exception: the list of admins is visible to the admins, who manage it among themselves.
The price. The plan is annual, at the tiered rate shown at subscription, plus GST and QST. The amount changes only by an admin's action: increasing the cap takes effect immediately (prorated for the current period), a reduction takes effect at renewal.
The end of the plan. Upon cancellation or persistent non-payment, the access granted by the plan reverts to the free tier. No account is deleted: each person keeps theirs, and may subscribe individually.
